TEC1-12706 Thermoelectric Peltier Cooling Module 12V 6A
Product Overview
The TEC1-12706 Peltier Module is a thermoelectric cooling device capable of generating a temperature difference when powered by DC voltage. Ideal for DIY cooling systems, portable refrigerators, water chillers, electronics cooling, and scientific experiments.
Description
The TEC1-12706 Thermoelectric Peltier Module is a solid-state cooling device that uses the Peltier effect to create a temperature difference between its two ceramic surfaces. When DC power is applied, one side becomes cold while the opposite side becomes hot.
Unlike traditional refrigeration systems, the TEC1-12706 contains no moving parts, refrigerants, or compressors, making it compact, reliable, and environmentally friendly. It is widely used in mini refrigerators, CPU cooling projects, laboratory equipment, laser cooling systems, portable coolers, beverage chillers, temperature-controlled enclosures, and DIY electronics projects.
The module can also generate electricity when a temperature difference exists across its surfaces, making it useful for thermoelectric power generation experiments.
Its compact design and ease of integration make it popular among makers, students, researchers, and engineers working on cooling and thermal management applications.

How It Works
The TEC1-12706 operates using the Peltier Effect. When DC power is applied to the module, heat is transferred from one side of the module to the other.
- One ceramic surface becomes cold.
- The opposite ceramic surface becomes hot.
- A heatsink and cooling fan are typically required on the hot side to dissipate heat effectively.
For example, when powered with 12V DC:
- Cold side can be used to cool water, air, sensors, or electronic devices.
- Hot side must be cooled using a heatsink to maintain efficiency.
Reversing the polarity reverses the hot and cold sides.
