Description
MH-Z19C NDIR CO₂ Air Quality Sensor
The MH-Z19C NDIR CO₂ Air Quality Sensor is a high-accuracy carbon dioxide sensor designed for indoor air quality monitoring, smart homes, HVAC systems and IoT applications. Using Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) technology, it measures carbon dioxide concentrations while remaining unaffected by oxygen, providing stable and reliable long-term performance. It also features automatic temperature compensation for improved measurement accuracy.
The sensor supports a 400–5000 ppm CO₂ measurement range and communicates through both UART (TTL) and PWM outputs, making it easy to integrate with Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, STM32 and other embedded platforms. It includes Automatic Baseline Calibration (ABC), which can be enabled or disabled, and also supports manual zero-point calibration.
Its compact size, low power consumption and high reliability make it ideal for environmental monitoring, classroom air quality systems, offices, greenhouses and smart building automation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is the MH-Z19C compatible with Arduino?
Yes. It works with Arduino Uno, Nano, Mega and other Arduino-compatible boards using UART or PWM communication.
Can I use it with ESP32?
Yes. The sensor is fully compatible with ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi and STM32 through its UART interface.
Does it measure air quality?
It specifically measures carbon dioxide (CO₂) concentration. For complete indoor air quality monitoring, pair it with sensors such as the Plantower PMS5003 (PM1.0/PM2.5/PM10) and BME280 (temperature, humidity and pressure).
Does it require calibration?
The sensor includes Automatic Baseline Calibration (ABC) and also supports manual zero-point calibration if needed.
What is the measuring range?
The standard MH-Z19C measures 400 to 5000 ppm CO₂
