Product Overview

The INMP441 MEMS Microphone Module with I2S Digital Interface is a high-performance omnidirectional digital microphone designed for high-quality audio capture in embedded systems. Featuring a 24-bit I2S digital output, it connects directly to ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32 and other compatible controllers without requiring an external ADC, making it ideal for voice recognition, smart assistants and IoT applications.

Description

The INMP441 MEMS Microphone Module is a compact digital audio sensor that combines a MEMS microphone element, signal conditioning, analog-to-digital conversion and a 24-bit I2S digital interface into a single module. Unlike analog microphone modules, it outputs digital audio data directly, reducing noise and simplifying integration with modern microcontrollers and processors.

With its omnidirectional pickup pattern, the module captures sound from all directions, making it suitable for speech recognition, audio recording, smart home devices, conference systems, robotics and IoT applications. The module supports left or right I2S channel selection through the L/R pin, allowing two microphones to share the same I2S bus for stereo applications.

Operating from a 1.8V–3.3V supply, the INMP441 offers low power consumption, a 61 dBA signal-to-noise ratio, and a 60 Hz–15 kHz frequency response, providing clear and natural voice capture for embedded audio systems. Whether you're developing an ESP32 voice assistant, Raspberry Pi audio recorder or an STM32-based sound acquisition project, this module delivers reliable digital audio performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is the INMP441 an analog microphone?

No. The INMP441 outputs digital audio using the I2S interface, so it does not require an external analog-to-digital converter.

Can I use this module with ESP32?

Yes. The INMP441 is widely used with ESP32 development boards for voice recognition, audio recording and smart assistant projects.

What is the operating voltage?

The module operates from 1.8V to 3.3V DC.

Can two INMP441 microphones be used together?

Yes. By configuring one module as the left channel and the other as the right channel using the L/R pin, two microphones can share the same I2S bus.
