Product Overview

The ESP32-ETH01 Ethernet Development Board combines 10/100Mbps RJ45 Ethernet, 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth in a compact ESP32-based board. Ideal for IoT gateways, automation, network controllers, monitoring systems and wired ESP32 projects.

Description

The ESP32-ETH01 Ethernet WiFi Bluetooth Development Board is a compact ESP32-based networking board designed for embedded projects requiring both wired Ethernet and wireless connectivity. The actual Chip.pk stock is marked ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 SY and features an RJ45 Ethernet connector, onboard PCB antenna and exposed GPIO and communication pins.

The board combines ESP32 processing with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 10/100Mbps Ethernet, making it suitable for IoT gateways, network controllers, automation, monitoring, smart-home devices and other applications where wired Ethernet can provide a stable network connection.

Unlike many standard ESP32 development boards, the ESP32-ETH01 does not have an onboard USB programming connector. Programming is performed through the exposed UART pins using a suitable external USB-to-serial adapter.

Ethernet & Network Connectivity

The ESP32-ETH01 provides an onboard RJ45 10/100 Ethernet interface, allowing an ESP32 project to use a wired network connection without requiring a separate SPI Ethernet module.

This makes the board useful where Wi-Fi coverage is unreliable or where a physical Ethernet connection is preferred for network-connected sensors, controllers, gateways and automation systems.

The board also retains the ESP32 platform's wireless capabilities, allowing applications to combine Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth according to their firmware design.

Programming

The ESP32-ETH01 does not include an onboard USB-to-UART converter or USB programming port.

A compatible external USB-to-TTL/UART serial adapter is therefore required for normal serial flashing. The board exposes TX0, RX0 and IO0, along with power and ground connections required for the programming setup.

The exact programming wiring and logic levels should be verified before connecting a USB-to-serial adapter. Do not assume that every exposed power pin should be connected simultaneously.

Applications / Use Cases

  • IoT gateways
  • Wired ESP32 IoT devices
  • Ethernet-connected sensors
  • Home automation systems
  • Industrial monitoring
  • Network controllers
  • Remote data acquisition
  • Smart building systems
  • Embedded web servers
  • MQTT devices
  • Network monitoring equipment
  • Wi-Fi-to-Ethernet applications
  • Bluetooth-enabled network devices
  • Automation controllers
  • DIY embedded networking projects

Compatibility

ESP32 Software

The board belongs to the ESP32 ecosystem and can be developed using appropriate ESP32 frameworks and Ethernet libraries when configured for the board's Ethernet PHY and pin assignments.

Arduino / ESP-IDF

ESP32 Ethernet functionality can be implemented using supported ESP-IDF networking components and suitable ESP32 Arduino Ethernet libraries/configurations. However, the correct LAN8720/RMII pin mapping and clock configuration must match this specific board revision.

It should therefore not be treated as a plug-and-play replacement for every conventional ESP32 DevKit.

Ethernet

Connects to standard compatible 10/100 Ethernet networks through its RJ45 connector.

USB-to-UART Programming

An external serial adapter is required because the board has no onboard USB programming interface.

Important Buyer Notes

No onboard USB: A separate USB-to-UART adapter is required for programming.

Not a PoE board: The presence of an RJ45 Ethernet connector does not mean the board supports Power over Ethernet. Do not power the ESP32-ETH01 through a PoE Ethernet connection unless a separately verified external PoE solution is used.

WT32-ETH01 terminology: Similar boards are widely referenced online as WT32-ETH01, but the actual Chip.pk stock shown here is PCB-marked ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 SY. Chip.pk should therefore retain ESP32-ETH01 as the primary product identity rather than presenting WT32-ETH01 as the confirmed model.

FAQs

1. What is the ESP32-ETH01 Ethernet Development Board?
The ESP32-ETH01 is an ESP32-based development board that combines 10/100Mbps wired Ethernet, 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth for IoT, automation and embedded networking projects. The actual Chip.pk stock is marked ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 SY.

2. Does the ESP32-ETH01 support Ethernet and WiFi together?
The board provides both an RJ45 Ethernet interface and ESP32 wireless connectivity. Whether Ethernet and WiFi are used simultaneously depends on the firmware and application configuration.

3. What Ethernet speed does the ESP32-ETH01 support?
The board is designed for 10/100Mbps Ethernet connectivity through its onboard RJ45 connector.

4. Does the ESP32-ETH01 support Bluetooth?
Yes. The ESP32 platform used on this board provides Bluetooth functionality in addition to 2.4GHz WiFi.

5. Does the ESP32-ETH01 use a LAN8720 Ethernet PHY?
This ESP32-ETH01/ETH01 board family uses a LAN8720-series RMII Ethernet PHY architecture. The actual Chip.pk board also shows the associated Ethernet circuitry and 50MHz reference crystal.

6. Does the ESP32-ETH01 have a USB programming port?
No. The actual board does not have an onboard USB programming connector or USB-to-UART converter. An appropriate external USB-to-TTL/UART adapter is required for serial programming.

7. How do I program the ESP32-ETH01?
The board exposes UART and boot-related connections including TX0, RX0 and IO0. Programming requires a suitable external USB-to-UART adapter and the correct flashing procedure for this board.

8. Is ESP32-ETH01 the same as WT32-ETH01?
Very similar ETH01 boards are commonly referenced online using the WT32-ETH01 name. However, the actual Chip.pk stock is explicitly PCB-marked ESP32-ETH01 V1.4 SY, so Chip.pk lists it according to the model printed on the supplied board.

9. Does the ESP32-ETH01 support PoE?
The actual board should not be treated as an onboard PoE board. An RJ45 Ethernet connector does not by itself provide Power over Ethernet capability. A separately verified external PoE solution would be required where appropriate.

10. What projects can I build with the ESP32-ETH01?
It is suitable for IoT gateways, Ethernet-connected sensors, home and industrial automation, network controllers, monitoring systems, embedded web servers, MQTT devices and other wired/wireless networking projects.

11. Can I use ESP32-ETH01 with Arduino IDE?
The ESP32 platform can be developed with the Arduino ecosystem, but the correct Ethernet PHY, RMII pins and clock configuration must match this specific ETH01 board revision. It should not be assumed to use the same configuration as a standard ESP32 DevKit.

12. What power connections are available on the ESP32-ETH01 V1.4?
The actual Chip.pk board visibly exposes 5V, 3V3 and GND pins. Power wiring should follow the correct board documentation; do not connect multiple supply rails without verifying the intended configuration.
