Product Overview

The ESP32-CAM Development Board with OV3660 3MP Camera combines an ESP-32S Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module with an OV3660 camera capable of up to 2048 × 1536 resolution. It features a microSD/TF card slot, onboard flash LED, camera connector, GPIO expansion, onboard PCB antenna, and external antenna connector for IoT camera, monitoring, image capture, and embedded vision projects.

Description

The ESP32-CAM Development Board with OV3660 3MP Camera is a compact wireless camera platform designed for IoT imaging, remote monitoring, embedded vision, image capture, and Wi-Fi-connected camera projects.

Unlike the commonly available ESP32-CAM variants supplied with an OV2640 camera, this Chip.pk stock is fitted with an OV3660 3MP camera module. The OV3660 supports a maximum resolution of 2048 × 1536 pixels, providing a higher native resolution than typical OV2640-based ESP32-CAM configurations.

The board uses an ESP-32S module based on the original ESP32 platform, featuring a dual-core Xtensa LX6 processor operating at up to 240MHz, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity.

An onboard TF/microSD card slot allows supported projects to store images or other data locally. The board also includes a bright white flash LED for illumination, a camera FPC connector, RESET button, GPIO headers, and access to UART programming pins.

There is no onboard USB-to-UART programming interface, so an external USB-to-serial adapter is normally required for firmware uploading and serial communication.

This listing is specifically for the OV3660 3MP variant and should not be confused with the more common ESP32-CAM OV2640 version.

Compatibility

The board is based on the ESP32 ecosystem and can be developed using compatible ESP32 development environments such as Arduino-ESP32 and ESP-IDF, provided the correct camera and board pin configuration is used.

The supplied OV3660 camera module is supported by the Espressif ESP32 camera software ecosystem.

Because the board does not include an onboard USB-to-UART converter, programming normally requires a suitable external USB-to-serial adapter connected to the board's UART pins. The correct boot/programming configuration must also be used when uploading firmware.

The onboard microSD slot can be used for supported storage applications such as saving captured images or project data.

External antenna operation should only be configured after confirming the board's antenna-selection hardware arrangement; the presence of an external antenna connector does not automatically mean both antennas operate simultaneously.
